I desperately wish he’d never been turned away - change is urgent

I have just found out I will be meeting with Health Minister Cameron Dick next Tuesday to present my petition for the education of emergency hospital staff on suicidal patients.  My beautiful son Chris’ suicide has left a whole in my heart that cannot be replaced. I wish he had never been turned away from the emergency department. Not a day goes by where I don’t miss him and I don’t want other parents to have to feel the same. Hospitals are understaffed and they have a hell of a job. But I just think that if staff got the training and support needed to recognise ‘at risk’ patients of suicide – we’d lose less precious lives like my son. It’s very exciting to be given this opportunity to be heard at State level - but I need to make it count. I really need Health Minister Cameron Dick to realise the significant public support behind my petition but this cannot happen without YOUR help! Please email Minister Dick athealth@ministerial.qld.gov.au telling him how important emergency hospital staff training on suicidal patients is in preventing the growing number of QLD suicides.  Thank you so much for your support,  Kerrie xx
