QLD GOVERNMENT ARE NOT KEEPING THEIR PROMISE
The issue
In Queensland, families like mine are frequently affected by the increasing tide of youth crime. Each day brings stories of heartbreak and loss as communities face the repercussions of a system that is yet to find effective solutions. Despite our calls for comprehensive action, the Crisafulli Government continues to fall short of delivering the safety and security that Queenslanders deserve.
The government has allocated millions of taxpayer dollars to noisy POLAIR helicopters patrolling our skies and to seemingly endless advertising campaigns that promise change but deliver little in reality. It's deeply disturbing that these funds are being diverted from impactful, long-term solutions that could genuinely curb youth crime and rehabilitate young offenders.
Statistics show that recidivism rates among young offenders in Queensland remain alarmingly high, indicating that the current strategies are not working. Other regions have successfully implemented community-based programs and prevention initiatives that focus on education, mental health support, and family services. These evidence-based approaches have proven successful in reducing crime rates and helping at-risk youth redirect their lives towards positive futures.
We believe it is crucial for the Crisafulli Government to reallocate resources towards these proven methods. Implementing comprehensive rehabilitation programs, increasing funding for mental health and support services, and engaging community stakeholders in creating safe environments can make a tangible difference.
Queenslanders deserve more than ineffective solutions and platitudes. We need genuine commitment and action from our leaders to address the root causes of youth crime. By signing this petition, you are urging the Crisafulli Government to listen to the voices of its people and prioritize effective, long-term strategies for the safety and well-being of all communities.
Sign this petition to demand change and ensure that taxpayer money is invested where it can truly make a difference.
