Dear Mr Joyce, CEO QANTAS

We are concerned that QANTAS appears to have an arrangement by which it preferentially provides Newscorp media to its customers, most noticeably by providing free copies of 'The Australian' to travellers. It also plays SKY news on aircraft and in lounges, a company formally owned by Rupert Murdoch, and also well known for its conservative bias. In particular, it presents biased and conservative reporting that undermines action on climate change. We note that recently it has failed to present fair and accurate reporting on climate change and Australia's bushfire emergency. It also presents issues that are important to a harmonious Australian society, such as multiculturalism and racial and religious respect, in a way that is damaging and divisive.

We suggest that this media is not compatible with QANTAS' "Spirit of Australia" and ask that you show leadership as a good corporate citizen of Australia, and end the arrangement with Newscorp and SKY. Your support of this media - particularly in exclusion to other alternatives - endorses and legitimises their views.

We note that QANTAS has committed to being a sustainable airline, acknowledging the need to act on climate change, yet the continued support of Newscorp media undermines this commitment.

In signing this petition we commit to favouring other means of travel to QANTAS until you take action.
