The letter recently sent to Ms. Lindsay Grey, banning her from volunteering at the Putnam County animal shelter, has brought to light several claims of egregious behavior on the part of the animal shelter director and staff. Ms. Grey is being banned from serving the animals of Putnam County based, in part, on heresy and without a chance to defend herself against her accusers. The letter does not mention Ms. Grey's option to meet with leaders to address the accusations made against her prior to being banned which seems to violate her right to due process. As for taking photos, that is a constitutionally protected right under what is commonly known as Section 1983. Volunteers are the backbone and the lifeline for any organization, especially a cause that is traditionally underfunded and understaffed. Without Ms. Grey, and ALL your volunteers who sacrifice their personal time to volunteer for your shelter, many animals would die without ever having a chance to be seen by the public. Your volunteers should be heralded for their efforts which have saved so many lives, not banned based on accusations being made by others. This petition is a request for the immediate reinstatement of Ms. Lindsay Grey as a volunteer for Putnam County animal shelter and to request any future disciplinary action(s) against her, and/or other volunteers, follow due process protocols.
