On March 17, 2024, in Moscow, seven unidentified men wearing masks and without explanation forcibly detained journalist Antonina Favorskaya (Kravtsova) and nearby colleagues at a café. Starting from March 18, Moscow courts placed Favorskaya under arrest for alleged "disobedience and resistance to police."

On March 27, Favorskaya was interrogated as a suspect in a criminal case involving participation in the "extremist community" of Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) and was placed in pre-trial detention until the court decides on the measure of restraint. She faces up to 6 years in prison for this charge.

On March 29, by court decision, Favorskaya was sent to pre-trial detention until May 28.

Thus, Putin has finalized a formula in which not only opposition politicians but also their defending lawyers and, finally, journalists covering their struggle are labeled as criminals and "extremists."
