The new year brings with it a new Minister of Canadian Heritage--the person whose department forces the Canadian flag to play second fiddle to some 30 royal and vice-regal flags. Steven Guilbeault was appointed to replace Pablo Rodríguez following the recent federal election. This minister and the prime minister are the two decision-makers who are reached each time someone signs this petition.

Guilbeault represents a Montreal riding, and appears willing to listen. He was recently a guest on CBC Radio's "Cross-country Check-up", in the "Ask Anything" segment. We are optimistic he sees the wisdom of updating our colonial flag rules.
