Ottawa stockpiles British flags to mark Canadian independence

National PatriotCanada

11 Dec 2017
Get your British flags out, Canada! It's December 11th -- the day we became a self-governing country in 1931 -- and a day Ottawa orders the flag of the United Kingdom flown, nationwide. At federal buildings, airports, military bases, and more, our independence is marked by flying the flag of a foreign country.
This odd rule may have made sense in the 1930s, when the nation's identity was tied to being part of an imperial family with Mother England at its head. But that was 86 years ago, and is true no longer. Today, as we celebrate 150 years of Confederation, it's our patriotic duty to change this and the other antiquated flag rules addressed in this petition.
Share this with your social networks to send a message to Ottawa that, if any flag should fly on December 11, it should be none other than the Maple Leaf.
