Royal flags deemed more important than Canada's--in Ottawa on Canada's 150th!

Today marks the 150th anniversary of Confederation, and the sesquicentennial of four provinces. It's a grand national celebration, and the country is awash in Maple Leaf flags. But if you think the Canadian flag takes precedence above all others in this country, you're wrong. The Department of Canadian Heritage is set to remove our national flag from the top of the Peace Tower in Ottawa, at the national Museum of History, and elsewhere. The flags of the Prince of Wales and queen's representative are deemed more important -- even in the nation's capital; even on this auspicious First of July. That's un-Canadian, and insulting to the nation on its highest patriotic day. Be a patriot and defend our flag this Canada Day: 1. Share this petition to those in your social networks 2. Contact your MP and raise the issue 3. Write to Heritage minister Melanie Joly at hon.melanie.joly@canada.ca The symbol of our nation must always take the place of honor, and come second to none. Happy First of July!
