First of all, I would like to thank everybody for their support in regards to this petition. Over 15,000 of you have made your voices heard, and I am beyond proud of our community for speaking up in hopes to make a change.
As discussed in an article by the Newark Post linked below, the city of Newark will debate a proposal to install speed bumps on Main Street before the next school year. Other safety measures are also being discussed, such as radar speed signs and more visible crosswalks. While no decision has been made yet, I am hopeful that these talks will be productive, and improve pedestrian safety.
Along with the council meeting on Monday, which is open to the public for discussion and comment, there are also plans for a public forum being hosted by the City of Newark and UD, with more details soon to come.
