The Issue

EDITED 7/21/2025   The original goal of this petition was to put feminine hygiene products in all Charleston County School District bathrooms, but as of today, I've been informed that only certified nurses are allowed to give out these life-saving products. This is absolutely insane, so we're firing back. Now, we're fighting the law that gatekeeps feminine hygiene products throughout the state of South Carolina.  I am proposing an amendment to S59‑17‑153 that allows for trained teachers—not just nurses—to hand out free feminine hygiene products. 1 in 5 girls have missed school because of problems regarding their menstrual cycle. If we make these products more accessible, we could increase time in class and give life-saving healthcare to thousands of women throughout the state.
