Dear EBRPSS Supporters,
Please be aware that Dr. Narcisse's contract will be voted on this Thursday, December 7th, during a special meeting at the School Board Office located at 1050 S. Foster Drive starting at 5PM.
Narcisse's contract would give him a raise of $55,000.00 as well as other financial incentives totaling $410,000.00 annually from 2024 to 2027 for a total of $1.8 million.
Recall that faculty and vital school staff like principals, bus drivers, secretaries, and guidance counselors have not received raises. Do not forget the drama over stipends for enduring the pandemic. Remember how cafeteria workers prepared meals for children during the pandemic. Our frontline workers have not been given raises.
Some students are still experiencing very long unpleasant transportation issues. Many of our classrooms have high student-teacher ratios;. Faculty have increased the number of students they instruct and the number of classes they must prepare for. Narcisse should not be exempt from the sacrifices other employees make every day.
There is a lot of talk about how the district needs to save money.. Narcisse has stated his plans to consolidate or close many schools in North Baton Rouge. Where will those child attend school? How will they be bussed when the construction on I-10 starts? There is another transportation crisis looming. What is the "longevity package" for education? Narcisse's supporters like Stand for Children insist that he get this "longevity package" of investments as well as other pay increases.
I suggest that you make every effort to show up at the meeting. The Board needs to hear from new people in person. just speak from the heart. You may show up and not speak. That is productive, also. If it is impossible to show up, email and call the entire school board. Stand for Children supporters and others who do not have children in the district will be at the meeting in large numbers. Make plans to do something productive.
Sincerely,
Mary
