Intro 

I was annoyed when a hacker on Global’s account decided to make posts saying “Hitler did nothing wrong” and “fuck Jews” among other racist and homophobic comments. Minitoon (minitoon.me) is a small art community where many kids (aged around 10-19, many PoC and many part of the LGBTQ+ community) create art.

The Issue

 The creator of the platform, known as Tears, has a limited amount of moderation (only a handful of mods, a “Trash Bin” which is meant to trash all spam and NSFW content (we’ll talk about this later on)) and is rarely active. The site has not been updated for about a year, which has let pedophiles, neonazis and racists among other hateful and damn creepy people roam free without any new rules.

 

The Trash Bin

The Trash Bin is one of the only moderation systems on the platform. However, it is not effective. Only mods can trash things and normal users have no day apart from tagging mods. However, most users do not know the names of the mods and instead tag Tears, who is inactive and does not trash posts. Sometimes, clearly inappropriate posts are not trashed and remain on New Posts tab. Trashing a post removes it from the New Posts tab, but does not remove it from all public view. 

Things that Exist on Minitoon that Disgust me

Accounts with obscene names like “Transwomenarenotrealwomen”, “HATELGBTQplusTRANS” and “IforgotIgotniggastoharass”

Many neonazi posts with hate symbols and “heil hitler” written on them

Many, many drawings of penises

Horrible things telling innocent people to go kill themselves

A post with a crudely drawn Elmo saying that “he’s going to come to your house and fuck you”

A post saying they want to suck a specific minor’s penis

and that’s just some that appear on the site.

The Proposal

Remove the ability to post without an account, as many NSFW posts come from that

Add a report post and report user button to report clear rule breakage

Demand Tears becomes more active

Have more moderators on the site

Filter out any slurs, like nigger, faggot and ching chong 

 

At the end of the day, we are all Minitooners, we are all artists and we are all tired of NSFW. Sign the petition, save Minitoon.
