For years, people in the LGBTQIA+ community have not had many rights, and only very recently was gay marriage legalised in Australia in 2017. However, there are many other countries around the world where gay marriage is still illegal. In fact, in about 66 countries, LGBTQIA+ rights are actually illegal, so I am pushing for more LGBTQIA+ rights globally. Even in schools around Australia, there is a rule where you can be kicked out for being LGBTQIA+, and I, the creator of this petition, am a 14-year-old who is part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I really want to push for more rights; in fact, gay marriage was ONLY JUST LEGALISED about 9 years ago, which is just ridiculous. If you loved someone of the same gender and wanted to marry them, you couldn't, just because people in the LGBTQIA+ community were treated as having lower status. I know this petition might not actually make much change, but if I get as many people as possible signing this, then more government officials are more likely to see this and will hopefully bring more change globally. I am actually part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself; I am Abrosexual, Transmasc, and Asexual, and in my younger years of life I was bullied for not being straight or cisgender (I still am), and I hate how the hatred of LGBTQIA+ people around the world is so common, so that is why I am so passionate about pushing for more LGBTQIA+ rights globally.
