Every time I, like many residents of Fairmont/Whitehall, venture out to work or school, I find myself constantly swerving into other lanes to avoid the severe potholes that plague our roads. Such is the depth of these potholes that even slight impacts can and have caused tire bursts, leaving many of us residents grappling with dangerous driving conditions and unexpected expenses.

These deteriorating conditions of our roads are eroding the quality of our daily commute and jeopardizing our safety. As per the American Automobile Association (AAA), pothole damages cost U.S. drivers approximately $3 billion annually. A town of our size may contribute a significant proportion to this amount, given our current state of affairs.

Preserving the drivability of Whitehall is not just about maintaining its charm; it's about ensuring our safety and mitigating avoidable expenditure. We need to attract the attention of our local officials towards this pressing matter and urge them for immediate action.
