Horse feed is sold in woven polypropylene bags.  These bags are a #5 plastic and are not recyclable in any home recycling bins.  They are not accepted with grocery bag or plastic film recycling at the drop-off bins in larger chain stores.  They are not accepted at recycling facilities.  In short, they are not able to be recycled by consumers.  There is an island of plastic the size of France floating in our oceans.  We are drowning our earth in plastic.  If companies generate plastic, they MUST be held accountable for it.  Feed companies must either close the loop and accept the empty bags for refill, as we did for so many years, or they MUST offer feed bags of recyclable materials.  Horse people love this earth and its creatures and we  don't accept polluting the earth as a part of our lifestyle.
