Hola companeros (Dear Friends & Family), I'm trying to set up a nationwide electronic petition to raise National/Global Awareness to provide federal funding & construction for a new Hospital on Vieques.SINCE HURRICANE IRMA/MARIA THE ENTIRE ISLAND HAS BEEN WITHOUT A HOSPITAL. As of this publication Dec. 22, 2020 neither the local govt / federal govt have made public any plans for a new construction site (zoning or building) despite the approval of $39.5 million in FEMA funding back on January 21, 2020. With introduction and increased # of cases of covid, locals & businesses on the island have personally donated Thousands of bricks & cinder blocks which currently blanket the sidewalks in the Plaza town center for the the hospital. All across the Island dozens of hand painted signs warn tourists to wear masks because there is no hospital on the island, yet many disregard the warnings putting local lives in danger everyday. Since 2018 many of those needing emergency care have had to be Air Lifted to San Juan & even as far as Miami Fla, to receive treatment.

Our goal is to get as many signatures as possible to apply pressure on the govt to act quickly & efficiently. Thank you for taking the time to hear our request & for assistance.
