Allow Publix Employees to wear BLM face masks and accessories!

The Issue

Following the recent tragedies of many Africans Americans being murdered by the hands of law enforcement, multiple employees through Publix Supermarket have decided to wear face masks that read “Black Lives Matter, BLM, I Can’t Breathe”, and more.

There have been multiple accounts where these very employees have been asked to remove the masks, otherwise they would be sent home.

Publix Employees have been told, by their managers, that wearing the attire is “controversial, offensive, political, an endangerment for the company, and also problematic. Shortly after being given those excuses, the company vocalized their dress code for face masks, which does not allow print unless it is Publix branded. For months, associates have been allowed to have print on their face masks, until this movement began!

We are asking Publix Supermarkets to take a stand with their African American associates and change the dress code, so associates from all backgrounds may be able to wear the statement BLM, if they choose to do so. This also means allowing all associates to wear any mask with print that is not offensive.

Publix takes pride in being a diverse company, and having associates from all over. With this knowledge, we ask that you choose your associates first and allow BLM attire!

As a Publix Employee of 4 years, and a company owner...

Todd Jones, CEO of Publix Supermarkets, we are calling on you to be the difference maker.

Thank you!
