Lobsters are sensitive, intelligent creatures who form strong bonds with one another. In the wild they live an average of 50 years, but some lobsters have been reported to be around 140 years old! Unlike humans, lobsters do not have the ability to go into "shock," which means when they are plunged into boiling water they suffer even more than we do. It can take 35 to 45 seconds for a lobster to die in boiling water, or up to 1 hour for their nervous system to shut down after only being cut. But many retailers don't care and continue to keep them cooped up in barren tanks with nowhere to hide, their claws bound with thick rubber bands, rendering them completely defenseless. These animals are bored and terrified up until the moment they meet their agonizing fates. Please join the fight against this cruelty and tell Publix to quit selling live lobsters at ALL locations!
