On behalf of the Community of Woodstock, GA, we are asking that Publix release the lease on the abandoned location at Shops at Buckhead Woodstock GA so that another Anchor Tenant, preferably a grocery store, can come into this large space. Tuesday Morning, who currently subleases the space from Publix, can easily relocate into the existing strip center in a more suitable size of space. The handful of other tenants in the strip center are struggling to survive because there is no anchor tenant and 77% of remaining space is vacant and has been on and off for years. These few tenants will relocate if this continues and then we have an even bleaker situation. We are launching a community grass roots effort to express our request. This strip center is already zoned and ready for appropriate Anchor Tenants and is the ONLY empty Big Box Space in our thriving Woodstock Community. Many appropriate anchor tenants have inquired and had to be turned away because of the Publix controlled lease. Publix, you are holding our community hostage. Please let us enjoy a thriving retail development, instead of this empty eyesore in our nationally award-winning City. #freetheabandonedpublix
