We must have voices in Parliament that are reflective of the public sentiment.

Members of Parliament that are party members tend to be too structured in ensuring party survival rather than making independent and bold statements for the benefit of the people at large.

There is fear of not being aligned with party goals so much that often they miss the core issues being highlighted.

A 15% representation of independents would make a whole lot of difference. This group will not be constrained by the party leaders and could bring forth more issues daringly in the house.

They could be the real and actual check and balance of the divide and be the third force. A true voice is missing in Parliament.

Time to break from the mindset that an MP can only be effective if he or she is a member of a political party. With changing times in the digital era, with almost real time reporting, there is more room for independents.

The public must be proactive in accepting these change of political landscape to be more progressive for the betterment of the nation holistically.
