We, riders of public transportation, urge the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to restore our Union Street bus, the B71. This bus provided safe and reliable transportation for students, easy access to major Brooklyn cultural institutions such as the Brooklyn Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and cross-town transportation for the many residents of the Columbia Street Waterfront District, Carroll Gardens, and Park Slope. The B71 also provided cross-town transportation vital for workers, needed doctors’ appointments for families, and senior residents. Without the B71 there is no easy way to reach these areas. It now takes 3 buses or a train and 2 buses to reach these destinations.
Assemblywoman Millman will be testifying at the MTA Board meeting on Wednesday July 25th. She will be advocating for the restoration of the B71 so we need all the signatures we can get! Please sign and share with all your friends. Deadline for signatures is Tuesday July 24th.
