It might seem like a trivial petition.  However, the fact that parents and individuals find the need to sign a petition to request the placement of a changing table in all men's and women's restrooms is a bit trivial. 

I am tired of going to public places that do not provide a changing table, yet their business/service provided caters to families or those with children. Too many times I have had to leave the building, go to my car, and change my baby in the back because my only other option was to change him on the floor. In addition, I'm not asking for this to take place in only the women's restrooms, there needs to be a space in the men's restrooms as well. Women are not the only ones that can/know how to change a diaper. I can't count the number of times when we've sat down to dinner at a restaurant, suddenly there is the need for a diaper change, and my husband has offered to change our son, only to return saying there was no changing table on which to do so.

I am actually surprised that with the growing number of same-sex adoptions, someone hasn't already addressed the issue with the men's restrooms - not to mention single dads! However, maybe everyone just expects a/the woman to change the diapers.

Essentially, if a place of business caters to families and children (ex. has a children's menu, highchairs, sells children's clothing, sporting equipment, baby-proofing gear, etc.) it should be required that there be an acceptable place for parents to change a diaper, just as it is common practice to have a stall designated for the disabled.

I may just start boycotting these businesses until we are out of diapers, so hold onto your hats, because it might be a few years...especially if we decided to have another baby.

Maybe if we asked the managers/owners of these establishments to lay on the floor of their public restrooms they might consider installing a changing table?
