families rights to visit termanily ill loved ones in Care Homes during pandemic

The Issue

My name is Stephen Jones and i am being denied access to visit my terminally ill brother Ken by firstly Aintree Hospital and after he was released into the local authority care home due to covid.

Ken has not been allowed any family visitors for around 7 weeks. We have begged the health professionals to show some compassion and allow us to see Ken but we are told its not allowed due to covid and its Public Health England policy ?

We are fully aware of the difficult times we are all going through but surely there must be some flexability and not just a blanket rule that fits all? we have called the home and begged them to let us see Ken but we are being fobbed off.

I have had a couple of facetime video calls the last one was on wednesday night after going to the care home and trying to get Kens carer kindly arranged the video call.

We have been told that we will receive a call when Ken is at the end of life stage and can then be allowed in to be with him and my question to that to both the hospital and the care home and also to everyone reading this is..... what is the difference to our family and all the other thousands of families suffering this heartbreak being allowed to visit our loved ones now while they are able to communicate and experience the love and comfort from their close family while they are still lucid and not when they are close to death and pumped up with drugs?

I do not understand the reasoning and if someone could give me a valid reason it would be appreciated but in my opinion there is no reason on this earth to deny us access to our dying relatives who must feel abandoned and distraught and so sad.

Please for all families that are going through what we are, spread the word mail your MPs and lobby public health England as this situation could happen to you and its devastating

Thank you for taking the time to read my plea god bless you all
