There is definitley strength in numbers. Currently, DOCCS employs a staff of approximately 30,000 individuals, including approximately 20,000 uniformed Correction Officers who are represented by NYSCOPBA, and approximately 700 Parole Officers who are represented by PEF.

Since NYSCOPBA represents the majority of employees at DOCCS, it makes sense for Parole Officers to join its membership to receive stronger representation and parity.  

The time is now for Parole Officers to come together and petition the New York State Public Employment Relations Board for "fragmentation" of all parole job titles from the professional, scientific, and technical collective bargaining unit of PEF.
