Healthy school lunch Leads to better performance

The Issue

We would like to change the system of canteens in every school. We aim to improve the foods that student eats in school; we want to promote healthier lifestyle for them. We want canteens to have more choices, when it comes to what the students eat.

In an article posted on Livestrong, there are Physical and Mental effects to students with unhealthy school lunches:

Physical Effects. Effects of poor nutrition from school lunches go beyond weight gain. A child who eats too much fat, sugar, sodium or processed food and too few vitamins and minerals is likely to develop a higher risk over time for several chronic health problems.

Mental Effects. Proper nutrition is also tied to better academic performance, so kids who eat unhealthy lunches are more likely to score lower on tests and have a harder time with schoolwork.

Our petition is in line with the DepEd Order No. 13 issued last March 14. The order aims to promote healthier lifestyle among Filipinos, especially the youth, by banning the marketing of junk foods and soft drinks in public schools. With support to the DepEd Order, we would like to make school canteens in the Philippines do the best for the students.

As a parent, don’t you want healthier foods for your children? As a student, do you want to settle with the same foods over and over again? And as a teacher, don’t you want your students to perform better in class? Sign this petition, stand with us.

Let’s change this system, let’s promote healthier lifestyle for everyone, especially to the youth.
