Keep Mr. Suggs in the Mounds View School district to support our students.

The Issue

Mounds View School District budget cuts are affecting more than just academics for our children, it is cutting the needed people and support networks that address mental health, diverse populations, family outreach and care for families in difficult situations. Mr. Suggs is about to be cut at a time when our community and children need him most. Mark Suggs, a family and cultural liaison, has been working with Bel Air Elementary students for 19+ years and is committed his career to bridge the gap in student needs by advocating for students' well being, getting resources to those are difficult circumstances (Snack Packs, Ralph Reeder Food Shelf, Bridges) and a cultural connection and role model to our BIPOC students and families.

As a both families and the community are challenged with the current events having a positive role model that can connect and empower our Mounds View students is essential to the success of our district families and community.

Cutting outreach and support staff during a time when our families need it most is not an educationally sound decision. Mounds View District promised support for building relationships and the well being of its diverse population, they are now cutting one person who did it best. Keep Mr. Suggs in our district to support our students and continue this critical work.
