For over 70 years, Israel has subjected Palestinians to brutal militarized repression and human rights abuses. During this time, governments around the world, including the US, have allowed Israel to carry out this oppression with impunity. Palestinian civil society called for a grassroots citizens' response. In 2005, a coalition of over 170 Palestinian groups called on the world to join them by carrying out boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) campaigns against Israel until it complies with international law.

We the teachers, professors, and other school employees of Missouri demand that our retirement fund divest from Israeli banks and businesses. We cannot sit quietly while another generation of Palestinian children grows up without proper nutrition, clean water, good schools, and a hope for a brighter future. What we want for our kids, we want for kids across the world.
