PS 84 needs a gymnasium! We need your help to build a dedicated gymnasium on the roof of our school! PS 84 has a multipurpose cafenasium which is inadequate, depriving students of gym class, afterschool athletic opportunities, and schoolwide assembly opportunities. This one space is too limited to support 3 lunch periods, and mandated gym classes to 11 grades of students. We are asking the New York City Public Schools and the School Construction Authority to invest in the future of PS 84!

 Students at PS 84 miss out on vital athletic opportunities because of the inadequacy of our existing space. The cafenasium lacks regulation courts for sports, leaving our athletic teams at a perpetual disadvantage in competitions and unable to host games/meets. Our cafenasium has low ceilings which limit the sports students can play - both basketball and volleyball are impossible. Further, the low ceilings mean students accidentally break lights throwing balls in gym class or afterschool sports creating both safety hazards and additional work for our custodial team. During inclement weather recess cannot be held outside which means students sit idly in the cafenasium getting no exercise or opportunity to engage in sensory regulation. PS 84 needs to grow!
