DOG WELFARE IS NEGLECTED - WILL THE JUSTICE BE DONE?
The Issue
On the night of 13 July 2020, a vicious Tiktok video of a man throwing an alive dog mercilessly off the cliff was widely circulated throughout various social media.
Within a couple of hours, it reached many animal welfare organizations and animal lovers. The incident had taken place in Lhachowk (Machapuchhre Gaunpalika) of Kaski district. A woman's plight can be heard in the background but it falls on deaf ears as the man throws the white dog.
The use of animals in videos to increase audience is not new. Numerous YouTubers and TikTokers had to take the heat for animal cruelty in the videos. Making a video for fun while someone is suffering is not accepted.
It was an owned dog. How inhumane should one be to get rid of the dog who spent its entire life with you by throwing him off a hill, alive?
The Criminal Code Clause 27, Article 290 states that if anyone is found guilty including abandoning owned pets, it is punishable by 3 months of a jail sentence and /or a fine of Rs 5,000.
We are calling all animal lovers to sign this petition addressed to
- Gandaki Province – Chief Minister 9851104756
- Gandaki Province – Hello Sarkar
- 3. Karna Bahadur Gurung – Chairman, Machapuchhre Gaunpalika) – 9856017311

After the massive social media outcry and criticism from the animal lovers all over the country, the person has confessed his crime now. Nonetheless, we all are keen to know what steps the Provincial Government and officials will take against such brutal and shameless act? The initiative for this has to be taken by us all. Show that you care by getting involved in this.
By signing and sharing this petition, you will contribute to bringing positive and radical changes and that such an offence will not be repeated.
You could spare a minute to call the above personalities too.
Please sign and share.
