All people should have equal rights to have pets live in their home. It should be illegal to ban pets or have no pet regulations on rental properties. Pet deposits should be removed as all property owners and management organizations are legally required to have insurance. Pets are considered legally considered physical property in Canada and there are very few restrictions on legal property. It seems illogical for a landlord or property manager to have any control over what his or her tenants may own. 
In British Columbia many people are forced to relocate or separate from their pets because of such restrictions.

Please sign this petition to show your support for those facing challenges in the pursuit of pet friendly housing. Support the individual animal ownership rights and challenge the capitalistic approach of making the individual suffer financially so others have more cushion. It should not be a privilege of property owners and those with long standing relationships to own pets.
