As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Providence College has moved to distance learning for a large portion of the spring semester. This clearly creates major obstacles in one’s capability to achieve a valuable and worthwhile education. Providence College has stressed the importance of students’ health during this stressful and difficult time yet expects students to continue their rigorous education in environments that completely diminish this possibility. 
     Home-life obviously prevents students from having valuable face-to-face interactions with their professors, on top of the fact that many students are unable to obtain any of their learning materials. To expect students to be fully engaged in distance learning is completely unreasonable, and the GPA’s of Providence College students should not be impacted. As a result, we are calling for a change in the grading system for the Spring 2020 semester. The best way to keep students engaged in their education without unnecessarily stressing about exams, papers and other assignments is to declare grades by pass/fail.
