The bill to give adult California born adoptees access to their original birth certificates passed through the Senate Judiciary committee today, 13–0!!!
It was an amazing day and truly a team effort. Adoptees, birth families, adopted parents, concerned citizens all gathered together in front of a very sympathetic group of state senators. Senator Wahab is our hero. There were a lot of tears and hugs during and after. So proud of our team, which includes every person that has signed our petition. It has made a huge difference.
We have a long way to go.
Next stop is the Senate Health committee, hearing tomorrow at 1:30!
