As a senior in high school, I often found myself overwhelmed by the college application process. For years, I was told that I had plenty of time and that nothing was mandatory yet, which led to my lack of preparedness when application deadlines loomed. It was a nerve-wracking experience, one that could have been alleviated with early exposure and resources dedicated to understanding college preparations from a younger age.

We already have many great experiences and oppurtunities available to students at AUHSD, although, many are either not available to underclassmen, or arent mandatory/appealing. What needs to be done is we need to provide a comprehensive road map that can help the underclassment understand that while they have time, its better to understand what to do because it will save you a lot of heartache later on.

While this problem may not seem too big for seniors or even juniors now that its behind you I want you to ask yourself how difficult it was to figure out what you wanted to do and if it would have been easier if you had these resources at your fingertips. We are not trying to completely change the system, we simply just understand now how it feels to put it off more and more and want to either make some experiences or oppurtunities manditory, or just available to underclassmen in general.
