This petition begins with a deeply personal and distressing story. Many people with pets were displaced by the 2025 California Palisades wildfire. The difficulty in such situations isn't just in the displacement, but more so in finding suitable, temporary replacement homes when we have pets, often stretching our resources.

Recently, owners were severely affected by the Palisades fire. The Fire Management Assistance Declaration reported the fire to be widespread, causing many of us to be suddenly homeless and in desperate need of aid. Accommodation that accepts pets is not commonplace, and is even more scarce in emergency situations - this isn't right.

Through this petition, we call for immediate support and resources for displaced pet owners. We are urging local authorities and organizations to establish an emergency plan for future incidents. We need temporary pet-friendly accommodations, financial assistance for pet supplies, and transportation aid in the wake of disasters.

The pets we hold dear to our hearts shouldn't increase the magnitude of our hardship during already challenging times. They are, after all, valued family members and much-loved companions. It's time to ensure their needs, and the needs of their owners, are met swiftly and adequately in times of emergency.
