The Issue

I used to take the train to work when I was employed at AdventHealth Orlando, and it was a game changer for me. The train system allowed me to significantly save money, time, gas, and mileage on my vehicle. Furthermore, it was a more sustainable and environmentally friendly mode of transport. However, since I transitioned to working at AdventHealth Winter Park, I can no longer enjoy these benefits simply because there is no existing shuttle from the Winter Park SunRail station to the hospital.

The lack of shuttle service creates a major inconvenience not only for me, but for countless team members who commute from North and South of Orlando. Many colleagues face the same predicament, making the use of the train system unfeasible due to the absence of a connecting transportation service to the hospital. Implementing a shuttle service would be a practical solution for these commuting challenges.

The advent of a dedicated shuttle could significantly alleviate these commuting issues by providing a seamless connection and encouraging the use of public transportation. By facilitating public transport access to the hospital, we would not only enable significant cost and time savings for many of AdventHealth’s valuable employees but also contribute positively to reducing the carbon footprint and easing traffic congestion in the area.

According to reports and statistics from the Florida Department of Transportation, enhancing public transportation services could result in up to a 30% reduction in traffic congestion within urban areas, demonstrating a substantial environmental and economic benefit. Furthermore, it could lead to an improved quality of life for employees who otherwise face stressful daily commutes.

A shuttle service from Winter Park SunRail station to AdventHealth Winter Park hospital is not a far-fetched dream; it is a realistic and achievable goal. Similar systems operate successfully in other cities and communities, proving that such a service can be both sustainable and financially viable.

I urge AdventHealth management, the City of Winter Park, and local transportation authorities to collaborate and make this service a priority. The investment in shuttle buses would prove worth every penny for the dozens of staff members and their families who would benefit daily from less stressful, more convenient commutes.

Please sign this petition to advocate for the implementation of a shuttle service from Winter Park SunRail station to the AdventHealth Winter Park hospital. A small step today could pave the way for a huge improvement in our community’s transportation network and environmental health tomorrow.
