I have personally seen learners struggling with access to sanitary pads. This issue affects their education as they are often forced to miss days of schooling due every month due to a lack of basic sanitary protection. This is a pressing condition that many underprivileged learners in schools across our nation constantly face.

According to a 2018 report by Dignity Dreams, an organization committed to the provision of sanitary pads, 1 out of 10 girls in Sub-Saharan Africa miss school because of their menstrual cycles. This problem persists on a global scale – a UNESCO report estimates that a girl in a developing country misses around 20% of her school year due to this hurdle.

The personal struggle of these students motivates this petition. We call upon relevant authorities and communities to mobilize resources and ensure that sanitary products are provided to school learners.
