Provide Safe Shelter for Lehigh Valley's Homeless Families

Provide Safe Shelter for Lehigh Valley's Homeless Families
The Issue
This issue is personal to us because homelessness isn’t something that only happens to “other people” — it can happen to anyone. Many of us in the Lehigh Valley have friends, neighbors, or even family members who have struggled to keep a roof over their heads. Some of us have lived through housing insecurity ourselves, and we know how painful and frightening it is to not know where you will sleep at night.
In Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton, Pennsylvania, hundreds of families, including children, are forced to sleep outside every night without safe shelter, warmth, or even the most basic necessities. This is not just a housing issue — this is a public health and human rights crisis happening right here in our community. Children deserve safe sleep, yet parents are trying to keep their children safe in cars, tents, or on the streets.
Homelessness is an urgent problem, affecting the most vulnerable among us. Families are going without blankets, hygiene items, and reliable shelter. This situation exposes them to health risks and deepens the cycle of poverty affecting our community.
We can make a difference. We call on local governments, organizations, and compassionate individuals to expand emergency shelters, provide essential supplies, and work towards long-term housing solutions. By offering safe places to sleep, access to basic hygiene supplies, and supportive services to those in need, we can protect the health and dignity of our community.
Let's come together to ensure that every family in the Lehigh Valley has a safe place to sleep. Sign this petition to urge our leaders to take immediate action. Together, we can make our community safer and healthier for everyone. EDDIE CARES.
