The Issue

Owning a car that’s incompatible with E20 fuel is becoming increasingly challenging for many people like myself. With the transition to E20 petrol, my car has faced significant issues, including a sharp decline in mileage and increased wear and tear on engine parts. These issues not only lead to more frequent repairs but also elevate my expenses significantly, causing financial strain.

The transition to E20 petrol has been hailed as an eco-friendly step forward, aiming to reduce emissions and integrate ethanol produced from renewable sources. While the intention is noble, it leaves a substantial section of car owners grappling with practical and financial problems. According to the International Council on Clean Transportation, many older vehicle models are indeed not suited for high ethanol-blend fuels. This can lead to increased maintenance costs, reduced engine life, and lower overall vehicle performance.

In countries like India, where this transition is being encouraged, the government needs to take into account the diverse automobile landscape. A vast number of vehicles still rely on traditional fuels. The Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways should be urged to ensure that normal petrol remains accessible. This initiative would address the needs of car owners who are currently facing undue hardship because their vehicles are not E20 compatible.

A dual fuel option is not only essential for avoiding extensive financial burdens on individual car owners but is also vital for the serviceability of millions of vehicles currently on the road. By maintaining both normal petrol and E20 at fuel stations, many of us can avoid costly alterations in our vehicles or the forced urgency to purchase new, compatible cars.

Sign this petition to urge the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to continue providing normal petrol alongside E20. By signing, you are supporting a practical and inclusive approach that considers all stakeholders in the automobile community.
