Provide minimum 3000 pension for elderly people

The Issue

In our society, many elderly people are living without basic financial support. After the age of 60, a large number of senior citizens are unable to work due to health conditions, lack of opportunities, or physical limitations. Despite spending their entire lives working, raising families, and contributing to society, they are often left without security in their old age.

Today, we can see a painful reality. Some elderly people are abandoned by their own children and forced to live on the streets. Some struggle every day just to get a single meal. Others try to live with dignity but silently suffer due to lack of income. Many of them are unaware of government schemes, do not have access to bank accounts, or are unable to complete formal procedures.

Although there are existing pension schemes, they are not sufficient. The amount provided is too low to meet basic living needs, and in many cases, the benefits do not reach the people who truly need them. Corruption, lack of awareness, and poor identification systems prevent proper implementation.

This petition requests the introduction of a strong and reliable law that ensures a minimum monthly pension of ₹3000 for all senior citizens above the age of 60 who do not have a stable source of income. This amount can help them manage basic necessities like food, medicine, and daily living expenses.

In addition to financial support, there must be a proper system to identify and support elderly people who are most in need. A dedicated local-level group or committee should be created to identify poor, homeless, and neglected senior citizens, including those living on the streets and those who are unaware of how to access support.

The pension should be transferred directly to beneficiaries through a transparent system to reduce corruption and ensure that the money reaches the right people. Special assistance should also be provided to elderly individuals who are not familiar with banking systems, helping them open accounts and access their funds easily.

This is not just a policy request—it is a moral responsibility. Every elderly person deserves to live their final years with dignity, respect, and basic security. A society is judged by how it treats its elders. By implementing this law, we can create a more compassionate and responsible nation.

I strongly urge the concerned authorities to consider this request and take necessary action to protect and support our senior citizens.
