As a wife of a Royal Air Force serviceman and a worker in a local council, I witness daily how my own family and many others alike grapple with the heavy financial burden of childcare costs. Our family, like countless others, receives minimal support, with only 20% childcare tax assistance to lean on. This meager help is simply not enough to provide our children with the necessary care they need while we strive to serve our community.

Currently, millions of parents across the country are facing a similar plight. Data from the Family and Childcare Trust reveals that the average cost of full-time childcare in our country can be up to £242 per week per child. This represents as much as 45% of the average household income (source: Office for National Statistics).

This society prides itself on promoting the well-being and development of all children, yet many families are left in the cold due to exorbitant childcare costs. This issue not only affects our children's immediate well-being but also sets a precedent for their future opportunities as our children are the future leaders of our world.

It is time to call our government to account. They must step up and provide full-time families with complete funding for child care expenses, ensuring a secure, nurturing environment for our children and a sustainable life for hard-working families.
