The Issue

This petition emerges from the Student Wellness Advocacy Group (SWAG) of Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY.

Women's menstrual health is often overlooked as a public issue. Women have had to adapt to the unpredictable nature of periods, often uncomfortably and unfairly. On numerous occasions, women find themselves starting their periods in an unfamiliar setting with no access to necessary products. Menstruation is a natural process, not a taboo subject to be shied away from.

In this progressive society, it is unjust for anyone to succumb to physical discomfort and stain their confidence due to the unavailability of menstrual products. In the U.S, almost 86% of women have started their period unexpectedly in public without the supplies they need. By ensuring the availability of free tampons and pads in public and school restrooms, we have an opportunity to make a significant difference in the everyday lives of women in our community.

Let us work towards a society where no woman has to struggle through her natural bodily process due to lack of resources. Sign this petition, voice your support to establish free menstrual products in public and school restrooms all over Georgetown, KY, beginning with the establishment and maintenance of free menstrual product dispensers throughout the bathrooms on the Georgetown College campus.
