Provide Adequate Facilities for Higher Education Students at Coleg Llandrillo
The Issue
As a higher education student and class representative at Coleg Llandrillo in Conwy, UK, I am deeply concerned about the limited facilities available to us. We are committed learners who spend up to 12 hours a day (with traveling either side) on campus, yet we lack something as basic as a microwave to heat our food. This issue has been ongoing for over a year now and we've been told it's due to health and safety concerns.
The canteen food is not only bland but also expensive. A tiny salad that barely fills you up costs £3.50 while a 'Pork Baguette WITH Chips' is priced at £4. These prices contribute significantly to the cost of living crisis faced by students. Options within the canteen resemble the colour beige - sausage rolls piled high, chips every single day, bland curry and not a vegetable in sight.
Our course fees are nearly equivalent to those at Bangor University, yet our facilities remain completely inadequate in comparison. It's about time this disparity was addressed.
We're not asking for luxury; just the ability to warm our meals in a microwave so we can sustain ourselves through long learning days without breaking the bank or compromising on nutrition.
Please sign this petition if you believe that higher education students at Coleg Llandrillo deserve better facilities, starting with something as simple as a microwave.
Pictured: A plastic pot of cucumber sticks that cost more than a massive portion of chips. Tell me, how can an institution that values student's health and wellbeing allow this disparity?
