The Issue

We are asking for a school crossing patrol officer to be provided outside Harmony Primary School Glencairn to help keep our children safe.

The roads around the school become extremely busy at drop off and collection times, with many children and families crossing the road. As such we have had many near misses of children being harmed.

We believe a crossing patrol would provide an important extra level of safety and reassurance for pupils, parents and staff.
We are asking the relevant authorities to consider reestablishing  a school crossing patrol as a matter of priority.

There is compelling evidence supporting the need for crossing patrols. According to data from the Department for Transport, nearly 50% of road accidents involving children occur during the school run. Additionally, research indicates that the presence of crossing patrols can reduce child pedestrian injuries by up to 37%. These figures represent children, their futures, and the peace of mind of their families.

We call upon local authorities to acknowledge the problem and take immediate action to provide a crossing patrol officer outside our school.

This intervention would not only reassure parents but also contribute to the overall wellbeing and security of our community. Implementing this measure is a practical and achievable solution that can prevent tragic accidents.

The wellbeing of our children is of paramount importance, and it is crucial that we take decisive steps to protect them.

By signing this petition, you are joining our community effort to ensure a safer environment for all our children. Help us make this change a reality by signing and spreading the word about this vital cause.
