Provide a school bus for children of disabled parent

Provide a school bus for children of disabled parent
The Issue
I'm a parent who cherishes my children's education deeply, but ensuring their safety is my utmost priority. Unfortunately, the journey to get them to school has become an unimaginable challenge. I am on oxygen 24/7 and the burden of walking them a long distance or personally driving them has been nearly impossible, especially since the heartbreaking loss of their father who used to assist in this daily task.
My children should not have to miss out on the education they rightfully deserve due to circumstances beyond their control. The current route for walking to school is simply too far, placing their safety and my health at risk.
It is crucial that our local school district provides a school bus for children like mine who live a considerable distance from the school and have no alternative safe transportation. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, school buses are up to 70 times safer than cars for young children. With transportation secured, my children can continue to receive their education in a safe manner.
Moreover, it is estimated that over 26% of Americans have a disability, according to the CDC. This is a broader societal issue where equitable solutions should be provided to ensure every child has access to education without imposing risks on their families.
Providing a school bus service for my children would not only represent an investment in their education but a commitment to community welfare and accessibility. This would relieve an enormous amount of stress and allow me to focus on my health while ensuring my kids attend school and thrive academically.
I urge the school district to understand the immense pressure disabled parents face in ensuring their children's education and safety. Implementing a school bus route for those in need is a simple yet significant step toward alleviating this burden.
Please sign this petition to help make transportation safer and more accessible for families like mine. Together, we can ensure that all children have the opportunity to learn without compromising their safety or the wellbeing of their guardians.
