Prove Brody isn’t Dangerous!

The Issue

To know Brody is to love Brody! He’s a 5 year old blue-nosed Bully which, to no surprise, is why someone of our neighbors don’t like him. He is super lovable, but an easily scared dog (he’s scared of trash bags, glass bottles, and his own shadow plus some!) We need your help to show the county AND neighbors that just because of his breed doesn’t deem him dangerous!

Back in October, at night, our older neighbor was out and Brody was scared by her yard work she was doing and jumped on her which unfortunately resulted in a scrape/nip at her hand from his mouth closing quickly. My mother tended to the neighbor instantly and she stated she was ok, only to have our other neighbors call the cops on us for it from watching in the yard over. Due to this, she had to go to the hospital, which is okay as we respected that decision due to her being an older woman we weren’t sure of any possible medications she was on that could affect anything.

However, now our dog is attempting to be deemed as dangerous by the county. They are giving my family a terrible ultimatum of either pay excessive fines, annual insurances, he wouldn’t be able to be walked, AND put a confined space up in the yard or put our dog down WITH the fines as well.

We are fine to walk him with a muzzle if needed and to make sure no one else is out in the yards when he goes out. He barely walks as it is due to our adequate yard space and him only wanting to do his business and come back in. We have him walk occasionally to keep his nails short as he doesn’t like the clippers. The county wants to force us to do unfortunate additions if he deemed dangerous (on top of fines and annual insurance policies) such as an enclosed fixture in the yard for him to be walked on a leash to, with a muzzle, to do his bathroom duties, then back in the house. What kind of life is that for a dog?!

If you have ever met Brody, you know all he wants is cuddles and love. He never barks and if it wasn’t for his wagging tail, you might never notice he’s there. He spends his day laying on the couch with my 8 year old sister or being near anyone that comes in. Brody loves treats and is such a smart boy. He doesn’t even play with toys as he rather lay on the ground next to you. We’ve had everyone from older family and friends all the way down to newborns in our house with him, he loves everyone. Brody even has kids hanging all over him all the time with no reaction at all other than a slobbery kiss! Only thing he hates is being put away as sometimes he gets extra excited to see people!

Please help us try to allow the county to understand that he truly isn’t dangerous and was just scared.
