ADEQ PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD NOW THRU 8/7/26- PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION TO DENY THE AIR QUALITY PERMIT

Take Action to Protect Our Air from Polluting Gas Plant
Arizona Electric Power Coop (AEPCO) has applied to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) for an air quality permit for the Mohave Energy Project (MEP), which consists of the installation of a methane gas-fired electric generating facility with four simple cycle combustion turbines
The MEP will emit coarse particulate matter with diameters 10 micrometers or less (PM10), fine particulate matter with diameters 2.5 micrometers or less (PM2.5), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxides (NOX), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), including formaldehyde, Toluene, and Xylene. This facility is a major source of pollution for both NOx and CO and while it is not located in a nonattainment area for any of the criteria pollutants for which there is a National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), it clearly will contribute significant pollution to an area that has limited industrial pollution. These four gas turbines plus a diesel generator will annually emit 134.4 tons of NOx, 190.7 tons of CO, 71.5 tons of particulates, 21.8 tons of VOCs, and 8.4 tons of SO2.
These emissions will pollute our air and harm our health and our community. Please sign the letter and add a personal comment on why you would like ADEQ to deny this permit.
Thank you!
