PROTEST THE FIRING OF HPD'S CHIEF CHADWICK BY THE INEXPERIENCED CITY MANAGER GARCIA-VAUSE

The Issue

"Hollie Chadwick, arguably Henderson's most qualified Chief of Police in the last decade, has been removed from office by a City Manager who is neither qualified for her position nor has held it long enough to make such a consequential decision, especially for no good reason.

Yes, you read that correctly. There was no misconduct or cause involved in the City Manager's decision, as stated in an official press release.

In fact, the only reason given for the Chief's termination was a disagreement between the City Manager who stated that she and Chief Chadwick 'did not see eye to eye regarding the direction that the Chief was leading the department.

To be clear, Chief Chadwick's leadership has significantly lowered Henderson's crime rates and raised the Police Department Officer's morale.

She enjoyed strong support from the majority of HPD officers and received no complaints from the previous City Manager or Assistant City Manager, who both stated, "Henderson was lucky to have her!"

To make matters worse, the Mayor and three City Council members fully supported the City Manager's decision, despite her having been promoted only five weeks prior and possessing zero experience in police operations or management. This prompted the secret hiring of a consultant to advise Garcia-Vause against doing something foolish and prevent errors.

It appears the City Manager is unaware of the impact her decision will have on Henderson's public safety, residents' confidence in their elected officials' judgment (or lack thereof), and the well-being of the Police Department's personnel.

If you believe the City Manager's decision to terminate Chief Chadwick, and the Mayor's and City Council members' support of it, is reckless and dangerous, please sign this petition to replace the City Manager with someone whose primary qualification is not seemingly doing whatever the Mayor's tells her to do.

Also, please attend the next City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 18th at 4:00 PM at Henderson City Hall and consider making a public comment regarding the unjustified termination of Chief Chadwick, a 23-year dedicated public servant.
