Dear friends,

Watching children in Gaza cry at their graduations because their parents aren’t there broke me. But as a mother, I reminded myself: it’s not my job to solve this — it’s my duty, in a democracy, to hold our governments accountable when they fail to act.

I have rewritten the petition to move away from describing what Israel is doing (which everyone already knows) and to focus instead on what our governments are legally obliged to do — and are choosing not to. They must not be allowed to hide behind inaction.

Could you please help with two things?

1️⃣ Is this new version stronger than the last one?

2️⃣ Help me share it further — e.g. on Instagram, in local networks, to Palestine groups, to your MPs/political reps, lawyers’ circles, and any international contacts (South Africa, Türkiye, Malaysia, Brazil, Indonesia…).

As a single mum I can’t do this alone — but looking away is not an option. Inaction is not neutrality — it’s complicity.

Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde,

Die Bilder von Kindern im Gazastreifen, die bei Schulabschlussfeiern weinen, weil ihre Eltern nicht mehr leben, lassen mich nicht los. Als Mutter ist mir bewusst: Ich kann dieses Grauen nicht allein beenden – aber in einer Demokratie ist es unsere Pflicht, Regierungen an ihre Verantwortung zu erinnern.

Ich habe die Petition überarbeitet – nicht, um erneut zu beschreiben, was in Gaza geschieht (das weiß inzwischen jede*r) –, sondern um deutlich zu machen: Unsere Regierungen sind rechtlich verpflichtet zu handeln – und wir wissen, dass sie die Mittel dazu haben. Untätigkeit darf ihnen nicht länger als Ausrede dienen.

Ich bitte Euch um zwei Dinge:

1️⃣ Gebt mir ehrlich Rückmeldung: Wirkt die neue Version überzeugender als die alte?

2️⃣ Helft mir, die Petition weiter zu verbreiten – etwa über Instagram, in lokalen Netzwerken, an politische Vertreter*innen, palästinasolidarische Gruppen, juristische Kreise oder internationale Kontakte (z. B. in Südafrika, Türkiye, Malaysia, Brasilien, Indonesien …).

Als alleinerziehende Mutter kann ich diese Arbeit nicht allein tragen – aber Schweigen ist keine Option. Untätigkeit ist nicht neutral – sie bedeutet politische Mitverantwortung.
