Right now the New Zealand government wants to deem 60% of conservation land in New Zealand as unprotected and available for sale, exchange or potential disposal.

The government decision to make this conservation land unprotected leaves those lands more at risk of having harmful pollutive infrastructures implemented on them.  Some of those infrastructures potentially being more AI data centres, like the ones being built in the South Island that we know, based off of what other countries have experienced, have negative and toxic contamination potential.

We already have an AI data centre being built in the south island and there is so much proof from other countries that have had AI data centres put in place on their land of the toxic contamination that it causes. The Conservation Amendment Bill if put into place would have major impacts on the management of public conservation land in New Zealand, this would make approximately 60% of public conservation land (33% of New Zealand is public conservation land or PCL) open or eligible for disposal, development or exchange.This change in policy may endanger native species and the ecosystem of New Zealand. 

This petition aims to see a bill passed that protects native New Zealand land from being sold, exchanged or disposed to put in place infrastructures that have the potential to cause long lasting environmental damage to our land. 

There should be more laws put in place to protect New Zealand land from pollutive infrastructures made on conservation land sold to overseas buyers.  

We are urging you to help us make the right steps towards protecting the land of New Zealand so that there is still a thriving ecosystem by the time the next generation comes into adulthood.
