Protecting Our Seniors - Pass the Elder Fraud Protection Bill in California

The Issue

My grandma's life has been forever shattered because of a scammer. What happened to my grandma could happen to the elderly family members in your life.

We NEED to protect our seniors. We NEED California lawmakers to be part of the solution. And we NEED your help.

My name is Matthew Sugiyama. I’m 15 years old and I go to Campolindo High School in the Bay Area. My grandma is an 80-year-old widow who lives in Los Angeles County. She was recently scammed out of almost all of her life’s savings, over $720,000. My grandma will probably never be able to recover that money from the scammer.

More needs to be done to protect vulnerable seniors from being taken advantage of and scammed. California Sen. Bill Dodd's Elder Fraud Protection Bill will strengthen elder financial abuse protections.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are about 6 million senior citizens in the state of California - the largest population of seniors in any state in our country.
